And the legislature meeting is cancelled on Monday...... So much for a "deal" by New Years. It's Dec 13th we need 3 informational meetings and 20 days for the ballots to be out there - The county wanted to hire - Jan 02 2014. Do the math it's gonna be a tight fit My guess is that We be in crunch time here even with the possibility of voting booths in the Pct's Christmas week

The county needs a deal. If it goes to court, either way they are screwed. We win they have to pay back a ton and we all get unfrozen, zero givebacks for the unborn. We loose, we are still frozen which means they cant hire and everyone will bail. It would be a huge crisis, you think ot is off the chart now. Jan 17 is coming quick for the briefs to be completed. This judge already has an outline (the previous decision) to work with. Could be a quick ruling. The county lost the last time they played the delay game.

If that's the case, you would think we would be in a better position to negotiate a better deal for ourselves...I would like to think you are correct, but I'm not sure that's the situation. If we stay frozen I don't think that many will go...with OT staying high many will stay to maximize pensions. But you only need a few to go from any command and now you have 75 (or more) spots a month to fill. Ask the guys in the first how quickly things change when you lose 5 guys. The Sgt goes to your house and orders you in.

Jeez we're cutting it close to getting this January class sworn in unfrozen. Maybe next January...

I know three from my precinct, and we are pretty much the most junior command.

If there are no raises a lot of people are going to retire. I bet there's over 300 next year and no way they can hire that fast. I expect 10-90 and 'something' else to go up next year.
Q: What do you have? A: Exhaustion

Word today was that Maragos ok'ed the money for a class...which doesn't mean jackshvt if the CE wont hire without some agreement for the new hires. How long to get an agreement in place...4-5 weeks?? That puts the class in end Jan-beginning Feb...And let's see how much worse things get w/o support to make sure we have some of the things we need on a daily basis. Those new cars have been sitting almost a year because we didin't have the stuff to outfit them properly...and that is with support still here!! I guess 80 by the end of January makes sense-heard from the DD that they are expecting to lose 15-20 alone. Bet the rest are the chiefs and inspectors hoping to get out before a federal investigation!!!
