Hello darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone 'Neath the halo of a street lamp I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share And no one dared Disturb the sound of silence
"Fools", said I, "You do not know Silence like a cancer grows Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you" But my words, like silent raindrops fell And echoed In the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls And tenement halls" And whispered in the sounds of silence

I hope this current effort works.
I understand that you all are 'trying to make lite' about this situation.
You might want to try something more aggresive.
That's an opinion.
Win or lose, I think you will feel better that you had tried.
I don't think taking some action at this point is premature or might ruin, 'a deal'.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Try something more aggressive? I've been blocked from the County Executives website, our PBA President no longer responds to my messages and that was after he told me he didn't agree with my tactics, NIFA has NEVER answered me, during election time EVERY political party knocked on my door and asked for me by name, if I'm any more aggressive I'll probably get arrested and fired....

You ain't kidding, I will say however when I email Jimmy he does get back to me within a few days. If you say something on the Kings website you get blocked (happened to me as well). NIFA yeah right as if they would give you the time of day. I've said it before but no one wants to listen, what we need to do is find out where the wonderful folks over in Nifa live and set up shop in front of their houses and protest 24/7. Follow them around like the city guys did Blumpberg. Make them as uncomfortable as possible. Start taking out ads about county corruption, start radio announcements about investigations into county. Confront future employees and let them know the absolute shvt show they are potentially signing up for. But don't worry folks were close to deal, so we have to continue to play nice, you can use my quote three years from now when the same shvt is going on.

I agree 100% you could've wrote this 2 years ago and copied and pasted. We need to picket NIFA members houses. Let them know we mean business. Remember last year Jimmy said the gloves are coming off? Im still waiting and waiting and waiting.

I completely agree with doughnut especially about the county corruption starting at the top. They want an ethics consultant for the street cop? How about an ethics consultant for Mangano & his boys!!! And yes time to put out ads or somehow approach the new hirees of what they are about to step in. I'm hearing that most of the new guys that may take this job have no idea that they will be stuck at starting salary for God knows how long. Time to go to the mattresses Jimmy!!!

I presented all of those ideas to Jimmy when all of this began and he wholeheartedly disagreed with me. He always responded to my emails too, and when his re-election was coming up he asked once again what I would've done differently. When I presented the idea that the NIFA board was biased because they were all related in some way either through Lehman Brothers, the large banks that backed them or the lawfirms that represented them during the worldwide financial collapse that THEY caused and we should be calling them out publicly as well as protesting in front of their mansions and King Eds house in Bethpage he not only disagreed with me, he went to the precinct Christmas party and told everyone this was the wrong idea. When I further explained he was trying to appease EVERYONE fro the 1% to 4% to the Governor, County Exec, NIFA, County Leg, etc and I though that was the wrong idea and he was more like a Golden Retriever instead of a pitbull when that was what I felt we needed...he no longer responded to my e-mails.... and so here we sit, still frozen

Hey after newsrag gets done with their 456 th article in 5 days bashing us maybe we can fight back! It really is a joke, all around from top to bottom, from side to side. I hate to say it but I hope the wheels fall off this bus real soon, I hope guys get the hell out while they can, I hope guys realize this is in FACT a dead end job as it stands now, and I hope the county comes under some investigation. Last but not least I hope the remaining guys on this job give the wonderful public their $700 worth they pay in police taxes but cry like they are paying 9 grand in school taxes. When all the shvt is done moving east and takes over this county I'll be the FIRST to laugh and say told you so. No really I'm fine, I love this job and county. But not more than newsday.

I have had more than my fair share of fights with my wife and what do you know it's all about money and me being out of the house working 750 hours of OT instead of watching my kids grow up. My bills are continuously late and my credit is being destroyed daily. I really don't know how much longer I can deal with this stress while working nights and getting next to no sleep. Eventually my heart is going to stop but at least I have a PBA life insurance policy.
My point to my whole rant/vent session is we need someone in the steps on the negotiating committee not someone who is making a lawyer's salary without pushing a car in decades. Our PBA board is so out of touch with the working cop it's laughable. We need someone in our shoes to represent us, I'll even let Carver pick him.

1090, in all honesty not many people give two shvts about you and your plight, me I do care. But Nifa is controlled by the state and like other posters mentioned has had board members that may have very well orchestrated the financial collapse, so you will get no sympathy from them, especially when the blame has been placed on us for the counties woes. Good old ed wanted Nifa in here to freeze our salaries so no sympathy in that direction either. Besides ed really doesn't pull the strings in Nassau anyway. The public, they could care even less, they are under the impression you make $150k just to show up to work. The hierarchy on this job, you think they care? shvt before Christmas they sent chiefs out to turnout and I personally witnessed/heard a chief say he is frozen as well and had no idea what salary the last class was frozen at, so the finger is really on the pulse up in the crystal palace. I will say what has helped the job pct wide at least is the first line supervisors, luckily they for the most part are older and wiser and see what is happening out there as far as morale is concerned. And not to divide an already divided job but personally I don't think the top pay guy next to me making my salary in OT is nearly as unhappy as the guys in steps. And the PBA, well what can be said, do you think they will "sell out" to get 1/4 of the job their steps? Nifa has said it time and again we have to pay for our steps and raises and they want future savings going forward so it's quite simple. As each day passes it looks as though we will have to rely on the outcome of the state court ruling on a state board put in place by the state, with what kind of judges. It would be nice to have a glimmer of hope, but "we are close" no longer does it for me or a shvtload of other guys who have to work shvtloads of OT to pay their bills.

Didn't you JUST have your election, and your shot at making change ?? The current guys won by a pretty decent margin.

I didn't vote for Carver but I am stuck with him. As for NIFA not caring i know they don't care and i know neither the public or Mangano care. What I need is a PBA board that cares that realizes how guys in the steps pay has to come be for there retirement numbers. I have heard Carver say I know what these new guys are making they are still doing alright. So 220K is what's good for him but we expected to make less than half and be ok with it.

Wait until Jimmy and the board ask for more built in overtime because guys in the street are getting more than them.... its on its way.. Also dont plan on Jimmy staying for his full term, he will come up with some excuse as to why he has to leave health or family problem etc.... oh its going to get a lot worse before it ever gets better.
