I took the NCPD exam in Dec 2012 scoring a 95.965, and received a letter scheduling me for the Physical Fitness Screening Feb 20, 2014. I have some friends that have been through this process with Suffolk, but not in Nassau. Is there anyone that would be able to enlighten me on the process in Nassau? Does this mean that there will be another academy coming soon, or do they just begin this process to have people available? Thanks!

Hey bro I think these guys are messing with you. There is no sit and reach for the physical agility . I'm a city guy and I took it a few months back. Whether you're in shape or not train and be prepared going in. It's not terribly hard but it's good to be ready. Run as often as possible and most importantly practice the sit ups correctly it's usually the toughest for guys. The push ups are relatively easy, as far as everything else on the job I would ask somebody on it alreAdy who you trust. Good luck

Thanks! There is no sit and reach. The test is push ups, sit ups, and 1.5 mile run. I think I will be fine with this part of the process, although you are right about the sit ups. I do all 3 parts of the test daily and the only part I'm borderline on is the sit up, but I should be fine by the 20th. What I am wondering about the most is the rest of the selection/ background investigation process. What should I expect, how long might it take, and if there is any talk of an up coming academy. I do know that they had or are still in the middle of a small academy which makes me wonder what they have planned for me.

Thanks for the sarcasm pdcn63. Obviously I don't think they have a plan just for me, I mean the people they pulled from the 2012 exam to go to the fitness test.

Pdcn you're a dick. He's legitimately asking for help from guys who are on the job, everybody was at this point in their career why not help him out. If you're not helping him maybe just keep your mouth shut

From the first day to the last step the entire hiring process should take you 6 to 7 months to complete. I finished it off the old exam just a few months ago.
what's the highest score you know of from the 2012 exam your taking the physical for?

Get all you paperwork together. Any past auto accident reports, draft card, dates of employment and termination for past jobs, the address of any jobs you had, medical records, any tickets you have gotten. I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch of stuff but it is a start. Also make sure you have a suit for when they call you to meet your investigator.
The only thing I am going to say negative is if you have a good job please know what you are getting into on this job. You will be starting at 34K frozen for god knows how many years and if you get unfrozen you will be frozen again down the road. It's your decision to make and no one else can make it for you.
