Same question. Pick ur poison kid and move on..... Not exactly. A transfer is something one does that keeps everything going. (Benefits, retirement system, longevity, ect). Retirement you get a 211 waiver and your money is put on hold.

I don't think you can, as I understand it once you pick Nassau, or for that fact a Village, you come off the others list.

You can transfer from NCPD to a village PD in Nassau...you just have to get hired from 2 different exams.
You would have to get hired from one Nassau civil service exam from the county and then take the following one to switch to a village.

Back in the day in the Sixth, we had one guy who had been a Plandome Village PD PO who instantly became a Nassau PO when Plandome PD disbanded and Nassau took over. It is part of NYS Civil Service Law. I forget his name, nice guy. FYI

I guess it can happen to any of these villages today considering it could happen back then. Some of those cops who got laid off in old Brookville had a lot of time on the job and had to start all over again with salary and seniority if they took jobs with new villages in nassau.

Do you mean like Woodsburgh, Mill Neck, Cove Neck and Laurel Hollow? It's more common that you think. Laurel Hollow still can't make up their mind what they want. One reason you see few, it any guys going from the County to the Villages is the lack of job security. All it takes is the stroke of a pen and your job is gone. Some of their benefit packages don't measure up either. (no 60th's, wacky Dental plans etc). How would you like to work with the same lousy boss for your entire career? I understand that some guys are pissed with the way the County has treated them but the grass isn't always greener. The County is still the best place to work, for many reasons. By the way, one Brookville cop that I know personally moved to Floral Park at his full salary and seniority (except vacation pick). None of them went to Muttontown.
