No but in the short time that I have been on the job I have been able to on a number of occasions deescalate situations that I and my partner had every right to use force but chose not to and instead spoke to the perp and brought him/her in peacefully and quietly. I took my job to help the community that I love and to be completely honest and forthcoming I was a little shvt for my ENTIRE childhood and yoing adulthood and even some of my adulthood and I made ALOT of mistakes and did things that I deeply regret and I had many occasions where I got slapped around by the police but I deserved it and it knocked some sense into me but at the sometime it was wrong that I was physically assaulted by an officer no matter how big of a little shvt wise ass I was being but at the same time there were some times that I had an officer that took a whole different approach with me on many occasions and once even bought me a hotdog a spoke to me like he knew me my whole life and was friends with my family and explained to me how much I was fvcking up my life and future and I learned my lesson more from the officer that spoke to me and was kind then the ones that slapped the shvt out of me and threw cuffs on me and MADE SURE my head hit the roof of the car on my way in the back of it and I pride myself on being like the officer that talked to me as a friend and I have a partner that has the same beliefs as me which is AMAZING but I would be lying if I said I was well liked in my department but I don't care all I care about is that I feel we make an actual difference in the lives of the people we cross and the ones we arrest and I have been walked up to and thanked by not only the family of some of the people I have arrested but on a few occasions by the actual people we have arrested who said after there encounter with us they chose to get there lives in order. I go home at night to my girlfriend and my kids and I feel good about myself and I feel like I make a difference each and every shift and I will NEVER change my way of thinking or my beliefs no matter how many horrible people I come across and no matter what may happen to me.

And just to add I have read so many posts on this forum and it seems like for a lot if you your time as officers has made you literally HATE people and I know as police officers we deal with a lot of scumbags and disgusting people every single day of our lives and we see literally the worst in people but not everybody is like the people we get called to but our time on the job has forced us to only see the bad and ignore the good in people and has made us lignite the fact that EVERYBODY makes mistakes and in all actuality there are very few people who have NOT committed a felony in there lives but just weren't caught I mean think about it murder rape and armed robbery are not the only felonies I have made the mistake if drinking and driving a few times in my life but I didn't get caught but a lot of us either forget that we have fvcked up or just think we are better then civilians. The day that I start thinking that the same laws I arrest people for on a daily basis doesn't apply to me because I'm a cop is the day that I quit the force, the day that I start looking at everyone as pieces of garbage is the day I quit the force! Seeing that everybody came down on me like a ton of bricks because I said that what those cops did to that man is wrong and they should be held accountable for there actions and everyone calling me a troll please ask yourselves this....... If we were called to a scene where a civilian put another in a choke hold weather it was a full fledged choke hold or even what some of you are saying that officer did which was a half asses one just to being a 350 pound man to the ground and said civilians action resulted in the others death they would have been arrested for murder ON THE SPOT

How about some punctuation and a sentence that makes sense. You speak in one long unintelligible sentence. You must be useless as a cop due to the fact that your paperwork would be an embarrassment on the stand.

There you have it ladies and gentlemen, the involved cops should have just bought the guy a hot dog and he would have came peacefully. I seriously hope that you are not a cop because if you are you are extremely naive and clueless about your career.

I have never heard a cop from NY refer to "the job" as "the force". Even further the point you make about the choke hold and a civilian being arrested for homicide is idiotic. As police we are authorized to use necessary reasonable physical force to effect a lawful arrest. We are not civilians and the laws are different for us wheather you like it or not. Nothing these cops did was illegal a "choke hold" is not illegal used in the correct context. This was not even a choke hold at best it was a headlock used to take this perp to the ground.

Your ignorance is showing again. You claim if you or any of us showed up to a scene with similar circumstances the individual who put the person in a chokehold would be arrested for murder on the spot. So what you are saying is the culpable mental state of the officer who put garner in a headlock was "intentional" and not only was it intentional but he wanted to cause the death of garner as well, not effect the arrest of a much larger man resisting arrest. You should quit the force immediately and become a prosecutor for the Boro of Brooklyn as your insight into the law is far reaching. I truly hope one day (for the sake of who your partnered with) you never encounter a situation that requires any type of force to be taken as it is quite evident you are reluctant to take any whatsoever. Maybe garner should have been tasered, Ohh wait he has heart troubleĀ and asthma can't do that. . Maybe he should have been wrestled to the ground, once agian heart trouble and too much physicality is a no no. Ohhhh wait I have the answer maybe he should not have resisted arrest. One more thing chief, driving while intoxicated without causing injury or prior convictions is not a felony. So stop making excuses for perps by saying what you did in the past or what any on this board might have done in the past. I challenge you to show anyone on this board where a "chokehold" is forbidden by law, is it in the P.L. or C.P.L. Ohh and when a chokeholdhold is applied all air to the lungs ceases so you are unable to talk, yet garner is clearly heard speaking while this "chokehold" is being applied. Good old nypd appicant investigations, good to see the standards haven't slipped.

"I have made the mistake if drinking and driving a few times in my life but I didn't get caught". "The day that I start thinking that the same laws I arrest people for on a daily basis doesn't apply to me". Well its good to see he won't be arresting anyone for DWI. "I took my job to help the community that I love and to be completely honest and forthcoming I was a little shvt for my ENTIRE childhood and yoing adulthood and even some of my adulthood and I made ALOT of mistakes and did things that I deeply regret". Tell us what "other things" do you deeply regret? What other crimes did you commit when you were younger and will now look the other way according to your logic? Please inbox me your supposed 955billion tax number as I want to run it in BADS, I also want to talk to your investigator and see if you disclosed the above info just to make sure your as honest as you say you are.
