Any cop who has been in his shoes should be outraged. Mom probably obstructed her sons arrest and got pushed back. The tape isn't 100% clear, but if she obstructed too bad she wasn't also arrested for OGA. Looks like this PO had his hands full.
No matter what, ALWAYS protect yourself. It is better to be tried by 12 than carried by six ! Brooklyn DA is investigating cop who wrestled with pregnant woman.
The NYPD put Officer Joseph Degen on modified duty following the Sept. 20 melee at Sunset Park, where the cop wrestled with a pregnant woman and tossed her friend to the ground. A spokeswoman for the district attorney said they are investigating the incident.
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Wednesday, October 1, 2014, 12:38 AM
Brooklyn prosecutors are investigating the cop who was caught on tape wrestling with a pregnant woman and flinging her friend to the ground, authorities said Tuesday.
The NYPD put Officer Joseph Degen on modified duty following the Sept. 20 melee in Sunset Park.
A bystander’s video shows Degen wrestling with pregnant 43-year-old Sandra Amezquita — whose son had just been arrested on a weapons charge — then turning and shoving Mercedes Hidalgo, sending her onto the roadway.
Amezquita’s lawyer, Sanford Rubenstein, said he met with civil rights prosecutors and, briefly, with District Attorney Kenneth Thompson.
“We take these allegations seriously and we are investigating all aspects of this incident,” said a spokeswoman for the DA.

You can no longer do proactive police work without putting your career and pension on the line. EVERYONE is filming you, waiting for that moment that could spell out huge $$$$$$$ dollar signs for them. Politicians want us handcuffed, its the flavor of the week, or as the joker would say...

More than once, since I am retired, I have had a conversation with a civilian after one or another "police video tape" (that fails to tell the whole story) that if the good people fail to defend THEIR police then the police might not be rushing to protect the public anymore.
I pose this question, "Do you think the police and their families lose when the public turns their backs"? No, they do not. They will always be safe. I then explain the police get paid the same amount whether or not they get to the scene in two minutes and might have to use necessary physical force to effect an arrest OR if they get to the scene in twenty minutes to take a report.
