FBI director James Comey told CBS’ '60 Minutes' that Americans should continue to question authority in the post-9/11 world.
The head of the FBI says Americans should continue to question authority in the post-9/11 world — but it would be better for national security if the government had the power to access any American’s phone.
FBI director James Comey told CBS’ “60 Minutes” that if a judge decided information on someone’s cell phone was critical to a criminal case or security issue, the government should be able to get ahold of it.
But he said he still encourages Americans to remain “deeply skeptical” of the government.
Comey said that if a judge decided information on someone’s cell phone was critical to a criminal case or security issue, the government should be able to get ahold of it.
“You cannot trust people in power,” he added.
Comey’s full interview will air at 7 p.m. Sunday on “60 Minutes.”

The Founding Fathers agree. That's why we have a Constitution and Bill Of Rights. If the government has probable cause, get a search warrant. Otherwise, hands off our phones.

Something tells me he won't be the FBI Director for long, going off-script and saying something like this.......refreshing to hear, though.
