Today's expected repeal of Nassau's school-zone speed camera program may turn out to be among the most popular votes county lawmakers have ever taken -- the result of months of intense public pressure.
But giving the people what they want creates a new fiscal headache for a county already facing many others.
The program, meant to catch speeders in school zones, and approved unanimously...

New technology in Nassau is every other departments old shvt. They just got rid of the 911 card conveyor system less than 20 yrs ago while everyone else had it computerized. Place is a joke.

If we could find a way to collect tax on all the freebies, kickbacks, campaign contributions and other "bribes" that our politicians take in we could balance the budget and get the long awaited LONGEVITY.

A Nassau Interim Finance Authority staff report last week on the county's proposed 2015 budget included the usual warnings about finances.
But it also includes a few items that Every Nassau Resident Should Know.
1: School speed zone cameras are not going away any time soon.
In fact, the program is mentioned five times in the 27-page report. On Page 3, for example, there's a notation...
