17 extra tours a year is a big difference for a slightly higher base pay

You miss the point...
17 extra at-bats to make OT at EOT.
A go-getter can make those 17 extra days hurt real bad.

On more than one occasion, I came in for an hour or so, courtesy of the nine hour rule, and rocked around the clock again. I fondly remember a DO asking me why I wanted to come in for just one hour on New Years Day (early morning). I had a hearty laugh and said, "Because I am gonna make another arrest and rock around the clock." He hung up. Full disclosure, this do-nothing boss is trying for 3/4"s.

bohica9 is right on the mark. Plan your work and then work your plan. Years ago, in my last year OTJ, I paid guys to work any Holiday I was not on the chart to work and then switched with them. Now 36 years later I enjoy the time and a half I was paid , every month, in my pension for working those days.....

Ahhh yes working around the clock on the big clock, I fondly remember being able to do so, now I'd rather sleep under the clock.
