Nassau County police officers are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred during a suspected robbery Saturday afternoon at a Seaford pharmacy. Nassau County Police Det. Lt. Kevin Smith said that shortly before 2 p.m., a lone male entered Charlie's Family Pharmacy on Merrick Road and announced a robbery. After the robbery, the suspect left the store, Smith said. Police did not indicate what was taken. Three people tried to intervene, and the suspect was shot and killed, Smith said. He did not say who fired or how many shots were fired.
One of those who intervened was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, but that person's injuries were not disclosed. The incident occurred at 3931 Merrick Rd., near the intersection of Jackson Avenue. Police said they received a robbery call about 2 p.m. Smith said multiple police units responded to the call. Nearly 10 police cars and five ambulances were on the scene. Yellow police tape surrounded the sidewalk in front of the business, where police deployed white sheets to cover the scene.

From what I heard, the perp was shot by an off duty NYPD MOS, but he was not the one who shot the retired ATF agent.

There is more information on this board right now than has been released to the media by the investigating agencies.
Less is more. Please, no speculation or comments. This is an open board.
There will be enough monday morning quarterbacking on this one. Sooo. lets wait till monday.
Think before you post. Imagine youself as involved, or a family member involved. Idle speculation hurts very badly.
God Bless and may Next year be a safer and more peaceful one for our brothers in blue.

Via Newsday.com:
A suspected robber and a federal law enforcement agent were fatally shot Saturday afternoon when a Seaford pharmacy robbery was interrupted by an off-duty New York City police officer.
The officer struggled with the man who had just held up Charlie's Family Pharmacy on Merrick Road, and shot him just outside the store, according to sources close to the investigation.
Within seconds, a retired Nassau County police officer at the scene shot an off duty Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agent who also was responding to the robbery.
The suspected robber was pronounced dead at the scene. The federal officer later died at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.
Shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday, a man -- armed with what police said was a gun -- entered the drugstore near the Jackson Avenue intersection and tried to flee with the prescription painkiller Oxycodone and cash.
A customer in the pharmacy left the store and ran into a nearby deli, announcing that the drugstore was being robbed and urged people to call 911, the sources said.
The off-duty NYPD officer, and a retired police lieutenant who had worked for Nassau County's department, were inside the deli, the law enforcement official said. The two of them went to the pharmacy where the NYPD officer met the suspect at the store's doorway at 3931 Merrick Road. The two struggled and the officer shot. The suspect's body crumbled to the sidewalk outside the store, surrounded by bottles of drugs.
At about the time of the shooting, the ATF agent arrived at the scene with his gun out, the law enforcement source said. That's when the retired Nassau County police lieutenant fired at the ATF agent, causing a fatal wound, the source said.
Investigators did not identify the robbery suspect or the three law enforcement officers.
"Tragically, prescription drug abuse has taken the lives of a young man and law enforcement official," Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano said. "My heart and prayers go out to those who lost their lives today." The New Year's Eve violence mirrors two tragedies of the past year: the shooting of Nassau County police officer Geoffrey J. Breitkopf by a retired police officer on March 12, and the June 19 Medford pharmacy robbery in which David Laffer shot and killed four people.
Saturday's shooting was the second police-involved shooting in as many days. A Nassau County police officer shot and killed a man who struggled with another officer over a firearm in the parking lot of an East Meadow shopping center early Friday.
Absolutely, horrible. Very sad.

My Prayers go out to the family of the ATF Agent. Our Department and especially the Politicians of this County should be ashamed of themselves. They can be heard telling everyone that crime is down. Crime is not down - They are to blame for dismantling this Job and allowing things like this to happen...............RIP

I just read in the NY Post online that the ATF Agent was rolling on the ground with the perp and possibly the NCPD LT. The shot was while they were on the ground and then the perp got up. It was then that the NYPD cop shot the perp. If this is the way it happened, it might be a little easier to take then if the LT just aimed and fired at the wrong guy.
