Found this video on Youtube. A buddy of mine also said it's on the NYPD rant board. Interesting video...thoughts?
Interaction starts at 30 seconds and lasts about a minute. It picks up again at about 6:40 when plainclothes Sgt shows up...blowing things up even more!

After watching the video I felt like the trooper was a jerkoff but after reading the past reports of car jackings, one with a van, I understood why he was on guard. The only thing he should have done was to request assistance. The video was 10 minutes and not one trooper showed up. If you see two guys in heavy vests it's a good idea to get some help. Either way all cops at the scene were a little reckless because while they were arguing, two occupants of the car were sitting on the guard rail leaving the cops very vulnerable.

I saw the video and I felt the Trooper was in the right, it's his GAOE & he's IN Uniform, Uniform cop IS IN CHARGE, PERIOD!!!... the other cops instigated the confrontation making an issue over a whole lot of nothing.

Agreed, the bag has the upper hand and it is a gimme that he is the law on the road of the stop. What is confusing and out of sight is that it appears he holsters his weapon and oversees the car stop (assisting). Then it goes to crap. Choice one for the Trp. prone them out, call for help. Choice 2 (which appears happened), determine ID and back-up. Plainclothes should say thanks, uniform should explain and apologize. Shake hands and leave! Happened before in NC with villages many times. IMO NJ has PD issues and too much Testosterone. All enjoy holiday safely.

I kind of side with the Trooper but his tactics were horrible. If he truly thought these could be some real bad guys wearing tactical armor, he should have waited for back-up.
But...why the hell are plain clothes cops doing a VTL stop on a highway? Dumb.
This incident may be the eye-opener the plain clothes cop needs to lay off the juice.
Way too much emotion.

Plain clothes police officers make car stops everywhere. Whose to say this is a "traffic" stop. That said, trooper controls the scene. These scenarios are taught in the Police Academy. Plain clothes officers stand down to plain clothes officers are verified/identified and situation understood.

The article stated the plain clothes cops pulled the car over for a traffic violation (NJlawman.com). That must have been some violation to do a stop out of your GAOE, lol.

I don't know guys. This is a tough one. All gun collars and felony drug collars start off as "traffic" stops. I don't think the Bergen PD guys were out of there GAOE. I agree uniform shows up he takes charge. But if he thinks he has perps from carjackings who appear to be armed and in heavy vest he should call for back up. These PC guys are obviously a narco or gang unit and probably doing a rip. I think it went bad when the PC guy said don't pull your gun on me and the trooper said i'll do what I want. Does this mean every time uniform guys see PC units this is how it is? This is lack of experience vs ego. If these guys were carjackers they wouldn't be tossing the car. Problem I have is trooper comes up and jacks up car stop. Not knowing what the PC guys have. If this would have turned into a stop where the PC guys would have to draw guns on perps it would have turned bad real quick. The trooper could have stood back and observed. There seems to be alot of ego on this tape. When I was a 101 cop and in queens gang your 4th pct PC guys would venture in and we would venture out. There was never an issue and many times patrol would roll up. And we were young guys in a Honda Civic with fitted hats on. Your secure would watch for a few then ask what's up we'd say who we were. Chit chat for a few and wish each other a safe tour. Maybe cause I'm a career PC Cop/Det/Sgt but I feel like this could have gone really bad cause of the way the Trooper approached it.
