Of course it didn't include our steps or raises, it's never been in the plans, wake up everyone it ain't happening. We are being strung along like sheep to the slaughter. $30 million in re-currying savings a year, where do you think its coming from? The bozo won't raise taxes $35 a household but he will most DEFINITLY enjoy keeping your salary frozen to make up the difference. Hopefully 500 guys walk out he door in the next few years and this county eats shvt!

But they want 72 million to move the Family Court Building. Keep it going Jimmy. Silence is the key to fixing all this.

Read the bottom line of the newsday article; NiFA reduced the 30 million in borrowing for police severance pay to 6.5 million and told the county to use operating expenses for the rest.
The county has normally borrowed/bonded termination pay.
Get ready to get paid over 2,3,4,5 years for termination pay when the county says "oh we don't have the money in the operating budget this year to pay you all at once"

So they plan to hire while never intending to give these hirees their steps or raises. And we will never get our steps...and from the looks of the article guys retiring may not get their termination pay. Guys who retired this year & got that lump sum payout are looking smarter & smarter...will there ever be another comment from the PBA? I never heard any response from newsday bashing us last week either. Frozen, frozen, frozen!!! The job blows!!!

And wait until the next class has to WORK the giveback hours instead of giving back time. The real problem is the finances keep getting worse over the next few years. This isn't close to being over.

Finances will never get better until they raise taxes. And mangina will never do that. That alone guarantees the freeze for 4 more years & most likely beyond bc every year the budget gets worse. Where did all of this money that they saved from freezing us for past 3 years go anyways?

That is good for about 20 guys....let's see who the first 20 out the door in '14 are! After that, it's a crapshoot to see how/who gets what....You can bet that they are going to try and get that 30 million from us with this "new deal". I think they are looking forward to us taking whatever they offer...Think about it...if we get brought up to where we should be, it will cost them 25 million? Then they hire a few hundred guys who will take the job because it all looks good "now". Senior guys leave because OT is gone, Ed asks NIFA for another freeze and now you have the senior guys gone and several hundred guys stuck at 34-50k. Between the senior guys gone and the new guys stuck, the will save probably 50-60 million a year...and don't forget, the new guys all owe I believe 7 tours a year for 3 years. and all it cost them was 25 million up front. Oh, and they are still holding our termination pay....I think I'm gonna cry...or load up the AR!!!

Even if they hire the 125-150 they want to, the OT is not going to dry up everywhere (Especially the 1st, 3rd and 5th). You will see senior guys leaving. However, most of them aren't on patrol. When they leave, they have to fill those positions. They then take guys from patrol. This will increase SRC again. This will be going on for the next few years. The county will have go to the legislature asking for more money for OT every year at budget time.

They were leaving 'early' to ensure a 1 year pay-out. IIF guys bolt early this will really drive OT through the roof next year. That will ensure even more leave once the OT dries up.

Iam sure there is enough money in the operating budget to cover termination pay. Just like there is enough to pay everyone their raises they just choose not to do it.
