Cop Hurt in Brentwood Crash While Pursuing SuspectA police officer suffered minor injuries when he crashed his car into a utility pole while pursuing a suspect fleeing a traffic stop early Monday in Brentwood, Suffolk County police said. The accident occurred on Yarnell Street near Wicks Road at about 1:10 a.m. Police said Andre Jones, 59, of Brentwood, was arrested after a search by other officers, including a canine unit and an aviation unit. Jones was charged with resisting arrest, false personation and with unlawful fleeing of a police officer, police said. The incident began with the officer conducting a traffic stop after spotting the suspect driving without headlights, police said. But, police said, when the driver attempted to flee the scene, the officer tried to pursue him and his car skidded on ice into the pole. The pole broke in half from the impact, police said. Police said both the officer and the driver were taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment. Jones was arraigned Monday and held pending a $500 cash or $1,000 bond bail.

I'd like to wish a speedy recovery for the Cop and a nasty case of Sepsis for Mr. Jones.
