I am not waiting for Carver's email as it would not be a productive use of my time. His emails are usually purposefully vague with no useful details. They only serve to create the illusion that they are getting something productive done. I am sure the opposite is true. Kaiman put out his statement nearly a week ago. Basically he want's to give us what we would get if we lost the law suit which is no raise for 2011, no raise for 2012 and a possible raise for 2013 in 2016 if the County can properly manage their finances by then. Mangano has proved time and again that he will not budget responsibly. That is why NIFA is here. So I think it is highly doubtful that we will see that raise years from now. Mangano tried to pass the King Ed law so that he could just nullify our contracts. He lost that one in court and everyone was celebrating. Well he nullified our contracts anyway. He backdoored it by using NIFA as a tool to achieve his ends. The only fiscal crisis here is the one he artificially manufactured by purposely blowing holes in a previously submitted and I believe already approved? balanced budget. He has successfully used Newsday to repeatedly demonize us and turn the public against us. This a complete set up by the political powers that be. First Kaiman tells us that he will give us nothing for 2011, 2012, and probably nothing for 2013. Then the various union leaderships do their part. They pretend to fight by showing faux outrage and they will give us a deal where we will be lucky to get half of what we're supposed to get going forward. They will then try to portray this as some kind of victory when in fact it will be a loss. Guaranteed we will be refrozen again in 2017 as their superior management skill will insure that the County is still in a fiscal crisis and by that time the politicos will make sure to amend and/or rewrite the NiFA statutes so that going forward the next time we will be legally frozen for a very long time. They will keep us frozen until every tier 2 guy is forced to leave the job and they will flood this place with tier 6 so that there will be no OT and they will have a hearty chuckle from deep inside the bowels of the Charlie Chaplin room in Oheka castle. Can anyone guess where they will get the money to pay for the few smaller raises that will be offered in this renegotiation of a renegotiation. Do you think they will raise more revenue to pay us. No they won't have to. They won't have to because they already have the money. It is the money they have stolen from us these past 3 years. The some of the money they will give us will come from all of our money they have stolen and then they will fritter away the rest of our money on more boondoggles like RMS. If we do not fight for everything now we will cripple the membership going forward. The 500 + guys being destroyed now (some say by the uncaring senior guys) will be destroyed even more by the tier 6 army that is hired afterwards because, rightly or wrongly, they will believe that you guys sold them out. It won't matter to Jimmy and company because this is their last hurrah anyway. They will not be here to suffer the consequences of their actions but us 500 junior guys will. The senior guys are not uncaring. They are at the end of their usefull carreers for what is rapidly becoming a useless organization that does not care one whit for their members or their members' well being. The senior guys may not vote for a deal that cuts both their termination pay and their pensions by $20,000 or more per year. Meanwhile, I bet if you go on See Through NY. you may find that most of the people involved in making the decisions that are supposedly in our best interest have all seen their salaries go up during this freeze through assorted bogus promotions. They'll tell you this is for the greater good with a straight face. It is only for their greater good. Their salaries and pensions will go up while ours will go down and we will have no one to blame for this mess but ourselves if we continually allow ourselves to be slapped around by the political powers that be.
