Videos www.newsday.com/news/new-york/nypd-fdny-hockey-teams-brawl-at-nassau-coliseum-1.7626349A charity hockey game between New York City police and firefighters at the Nassau Coliseum erupted into a brawl on ice Sunday. In videos posted on YouTube and Instagram, players from both teams are seen clearing the bench, throwing punches and shoving one another as hockey sticks and gloves are left scattered on the ice. Officials with the New York Police Department, the New York Fire Department and their unions did not immediately respond to requests for comments. In a YouTube video, riled-up fans are heard chanting slurs about the police. The video recordings show the melee occurred during the second period of the match, as the teams were tied 3-3. Referees are seen struggling to break up the brawl. The game continued after the fight and the NYPD won 8-5. It was the NYPD's first victory after five straight wins by the firefighters. The FDNY Hockey team's Facebook page bills the event, which started at 1 p.m., as a match between New York's "Finest and Bravest." By Sunday evening, a YouTube video had been viewed nearly 55,000 times. Fans in stands recorded the brawl between the New York City police and firefighters, uploading the videos onto their YouTube and Instagram accounts.

Jeez! It was a Hockey Game for Pete's sake! The fans don't throw flower petals on the ice, they throw dead sea creatures. What was Newsday expecting?

Of course Newsday would have this as their "top story" and not the two cops injured in Coney Island. I really hate that paper!

I think the boys were just trying to put on a good show for everyone. If a hockey fight is to disturbing for you it's time to toughen up.

Maybe you should stick to chess. This wasn't a touchy-feely March to Save the Whales. It was a Hockey game. Hockey fans expect to see at least one good fight. You can bet the wives and families were cheering and encouraging the players to rip the other teams' eyes out. It's part of the game. You must be horrified by Roller Derby.

Anyone saying, "Shame on theses guys for getting into a hockey fight" is way too soft for my liking.
