More Than 100 DWI Arrests Over Memorial Day Weekend on Long Island, Officials SayA Nassau County police sobriety checkpoint The three major law enforcement agencies on Long Island reported making 128 drunken driving arrests during the Memorial Day weekend. That compares to 127 DWI arrests for those agencies during the same holiday weekend last year, according to statistics released Tuesday by the State Police and the police departments in Nassau and Suffolk counties. Nassau County police said that 56 DWI arrests were made during the weekend, down from 60 last year. County Executive Edward Mangano had announced Friday that Nassau was revamping its DWI program after Newsday and News 12 Long Island reported that drunken driving arrests dropped steeply following the elimination of its specialized DWI team in 2011. Suffolk County police said Tuesday that its officers had made 53 arrests during the weekend, up a tick from the 50 arrests it made during last year's holiday weekend. State Police made 19 DWI arrests during the weekend, up from 17 during the same weekend last year, Trooper Frank Bandiero said.

How many of nassua's arrests were from those checkpoints and how many from the old SET style patrols? Bring back set and dwi patrol they way it was not this new invention that has proven ineffective.

I thought that years ago when we had to turn in our black rain coats and get the yellow ones. I do believe that the yellow ones made us more visible at the scenec of an A/A and therefore safer. Just my two cents…...
