Reps. Steve Israel (D-Huntington) and Peter King (R-Seaford) and Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano announced that they were told Friday morning by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that the site is no longer being considered. Israel said in a news release that "stockpiling" children in a warehouse was an "inhumane and unfeasible solution." Mangano said the plan had been "ill-conceived." The site is a former Grumman Corp. aircraft factory now owned by Steel Equities. In November, Mangano announced that the county was helping Agua Enerviva, a manufacturer of energy drinks, to move into part of the building. I WAS KIND OF HOPING THIS WOULD ACTUALLY HAPPEN JUST TO SEE MANGANO's FACE WHEN THEY ARRIVED IN HIS OWN BACKYARD.

I think the politicians are getting a little smarter on using public opinion on what programs or moves to make or not..it seems they put it in the news that something is going to be done and if the public screams bloody murder it surprisingly disappears.. it seems it started with the coliseum deal that mangano wanted taxpayers to pay for it..when he spent 2 million of your money for a pole to decide what the people wanted...
