3 Men Held in Stolen Hempstead Car, ChaseJermaine Powell, Delroy Carter and Keyth L. Jeffers were arrested Sunday after crashing a stolen car during a police pursuit that injured an officer, Nassau police saidThree men were arrested Sunday after crashing a stolen car during a police pursuit that injured an officer, Nassau police said. Hempstead police spotted the stolen 2014 Audi on North Franklin Avenue, but the driver of the car, Delroy A. Carter, 24, of Hempstead, refused to stop, police said. Carter lost control of the vehicle and it crashed on Fulton Street. Police arrested Carter and his two passengers -Keyth Jeffers, 26, of Roosevelt, who allegedly was in possession of a loaded 9 mm gun, and Jermaine F. Powell, 28, of Hempstead. A Hempstead officer was injured while responding to the scene when his vehicle struck a parked car. He was treated and released from a hospital. Carter also was treated and released for minor injuries sustained in the crash. Jeffers was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a firearm, second-degree possession of a defaced firearm and unauthorized use of a vehicle. Carter was charged with second-degree possession of stolen property and Powell was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle. All three were arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead. These 3 predators were probably going to do a robbery.
