The hat rarely came off.
This picture was taken at my relieving point in N. Merrick probably a our week before our retirement. I had 4201 instead of 113 as the car was only a few weeks old and one of the other ops in pursuit hit a curb head on and bent the car in half.

Nice Photo .I worked the First from 6/67-1/78. These tired old eyes looked real close but I could not recognize you.

I also remember that your new car was shot full of holes in a shootout a few weeks before that. I think those were your hints to retire.  |

I finally get a new RMP after the old one went 125,000 miles. The 2n1st week on the road it received bullet holes to the hood, mirror and door. The car was taken off the road until the investigation and body work was completed. Then exiting the Meadowbrook Pkwy at Hempstead tpke it went over the center medium bending the chassis. I guess they were hints to retire
