1933 Nassau PD (Mineola PD?) Patrol Car In Crash

7/26/1933 Two Patrolmen were injured when their police car was crushed by a 10 ton six wheeler bread truck on Jericho Turnpike and the Motor parkway in Mineola, Long Island. patrolmen Herbert Sibbert and James McAuliffe were injured and the car completely demolished. Patrolman Sibbert is in the hospital with a possible fracture of the skull and other injuries. But Patrolman McAuliffe who jumped was not seriously hurt. Photo shows the police car wedged and crushed under the front of the truck.

The Patrolman who "jumped" was probably the footman and he needed to get away before the Sgt arrived.
