THE PROSECUTOR DROPPED THE FIGHT TO GET THE DEATH PENALTY.........WHAT A SHOCK !! A BLACK PROSECUTOR HELPING A BROTHER..............
"There's never been any doubt in my mind that Mumia Abu-Jamal shot and killed Officer Faulkner. I believe that the appropriate sentence was handed down by a jury of his peers in 1982," said Williams, WHO IS BLACK . "While Abu-Jamal will no longer be facing the death penalty, he will remain behind bars for the rest of his life, and that is where he belongs."
THIS COUNTRY IS JUST ABOUT FINISHED !!

NY POST Editorial PageThirty years ago today, Mumia Abu-Jamal, né Wesley Cook, murdered 25-year-old Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner. There is no doubt about that. Not even the killer really denies it. The murderer was tried, convicted and sentenced to death. Then began a bizarre, decades-long danse macabre through the courts, as the state of Pennsylvania attempted to carry out the sentence and Abu-Jamal sought to deny justice. This week, Abu-Jamal won: Philadelphia’s district attorney announced an end to the effort to execute Abu-Jamal and settled for a life sentence without parole. Daniel Faulkner The facts are quite clear: Abu-Jamal shot Faulkner in the back during a traffic altercation. The officer returned fire, hitting Abu-Jamal in the chest. Abu-Jamal then killed Faulkner with a shot to the face. Ballistics confirmed that Faulkner was killed with Abu-Jamal’s pistol — and three witnesses confirmed they saw Abu-Jamal shooting Faulkner. Nonetheless, Abu-Jamal cast himself as a victim of a racist legal system — and the media bit. Presently the killer became an international cause celebre, toasted by all — from Ramsey Clark to Hollywood celebrities. The city of Paris named him an “honorary Parisian” (which may be a fully warranted honor for all we know — Parisians being Parisians). Finally, a federal appeals court called for a new sentencing hearing, asserting potentially misleading instructions to the jury — forcing prosecutors to appeal again or drop the death penalty. And so this week it came to pass. It won’t be long, of course, before it is claimed that Abu-Jamal’s has “suffered enough” — or that, despite all evidence to the contrary, his guilt was somehow always in question. And then the argument will be that, under the “circumstances,” life without parole is an unjust sentence, too.

Supporters Of Mumia Abu-Jamal Mark 30th Anniversary Of His Conviction With Rally At NCCDecember 9, 2011 11:24 PM PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Nearly 1,000 people gathered at the National Constitution Center on Friday night to mark the 30th anniversary of Mumia Abu-Jamal’s incarceration, and to continue to fight for his release from Pennsylvania’s death row. Supporters came together to call for the release of Mumia Abu-Jamal, and to discuss basic human equality issues. In addition to a number of speakers such as Professor Cornell West and Poet Laureate Amiri Baraka, the crowd also listened in to a live phone conference with Mumia Abu-Jamal himself, who offered advice for youth trying to fight for equality and justice.
“I would say follow your heart, and do the right thing. Because 9 times out of 10, you’re doing the right thing.”The event also took time to discuss the next steps in fighting for Mumia’s release from prison altogether. Earlier in the day, a memorial service was held to honor the memory of slain officer Daniel Faulkner. Outside the constitution center a small number of police and bikers gathered to show their support for the family of Officer Faulkner, the man that Abu-Jamal was convicted of killing. philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2011/12/09/supporters-of-mumia-abu-jamal-mark-30th-anniversary-of-his-conviction-with-rally-at-ncc/
