I have been told that was a Hwy RMP. And given the time frame it's somewhere between Queens and Exit 39.
The Jericho accident looks like Mr Wizard.

276 was the Highway "chase" car on the LIE back in the early and mid 60's. High way cars on the LIE ware Blue and Orange, Highway cars in the Pcts were white, the last remnents of the old "Ghost Patrol".

Highway also ran two man station wagons called"service cars"They carried gas, water, jacks cones, flares etc. and all sorts of crap that might be needed to get some one going again in case of a break down. They ran 24/7 and were always there to help anyone with a problem. Don't know if they ( the Srevice cars) still are there. any one know?

Hwy has 8 posts, but no service cars. 2251 and 52 are west end cars, exits 32 to 40, 2253 and 54 are east end cars exits 40 to 48. 2256 and 2259 (2255 was retired) cover the whole LIE and 2257 and 58 cover the 135.
