Required certification for retiree health medical insurance by Nassau Comptroller is between December 8-26. This may require active members also. This is required every year. If you don't you lose your medical insurance. As of today I have received nothing from Nassau County. Not surprised. Only reason I know is fellow retiree received email last week. I received nothing. This is a big deal. Please pass on.

My E-mail was put into my trash basket. I had to go back and look for it after getting a heads up on this site. I had a hell of a time trying to complete the info. Who ever designed the format must have designed a bicycle for a fish......

BSO, Check your SPAM folder. If you use a Gmail address and Thunderbird or some other mail reader you're going to have to go to Gmail.com directly and sign in there to find it. Gmail has decided messages from the County are garbage and doesn't send them to you.

I checked my spam folder. Not there. My buddy forwarded me the email. Unbelievable. If one doesn't complete the Attestation they will lose their health insurance. Surviving spouses who are required to do this yearly, would not be able to get health insurance back.

Ya' think the PBA and the Detectives Assoc.would make it their business to inform the retirees and/or their spouses about this. Its a back door way to get rid of paying for Health Insurance for us olde guys.... The RPA should also follow up on this too..... Talk about getting kicked to the curb..........

Not sure this is limited to retirees. I seem to remember doing an "ATTESTATION" each year. I copied info below that was sent to my buddy. I pulled the paperwork from last year and my Nassau I.D. number. Signed on. I came up with my address and spouse's name. No email address. The enrollment dates are December 8-26. Nassau County 2015 Health Benefits Open Enrollment Period is December 8th to December 26, 2014. If you are receiving this email on behalf of the above referenced Nassau County Health Benefits enrollee, please notify them that open enrollment is now in progress. If you have Power of Attorney or are authorized to act on behalf of the enrollee, you may perform the attestation for the enrollee. We would encourage you to let the enrollee know prior to performing the attestation or making any changes. If you are not making any change to your coverage you may proceed directly to the open enrollment site located at www.nassaucountyny.gov/openenrollment. If you are thinking of making a change to your coverage you should review the information on our website; especially those documents located under the Retiree and All Other Plan Enrollees page. On the website you will find lots of information relating to your health coverage and your responsibilities. For example you are required to notify this office of any change in you marital status, and/or any change in eligibility of your dependents. Also pay special attention to the Notice and Premium Rate Sheet to see if you will have a financial responsibility for the coverage you are choosing. The class code listed above will assist in determining what your payment will be for any coverage chosen. After reviewing the information on the website you are now ready to perform the attestation. See below for online attestation instructions. INSTRUCTIONS FOR ONLINE ATTESTATION: Log on to www.nassaucountyny.gov/openenrollmentClick on the “CLICK HERE TO BEGIN” icon Enter your ID Number located at the top of this email, next to your name and begins with “9” Enter the last four digits of your social security number Click on the “CONTINUE” button to proceed. Review your current information and follow the onscreen instructions. If you need assistance please feel free to contact us at: www.nassaucountyny.gov/FormCenter/County-Comptrollers-Office-12/Contact-County-Comptrollers-Health-Benif-101, or email us at comptrollershealthbenefits@nassaucountyny.gov

If you think that is lousy, I just got my PBA insurance bill. I have commerical insurance for 5 times the face value of the PBA insurance for 2/3 the price at my age.
Yea, retirement is just a bed of Roses.....

I got a question about the pink letter.....for the first full year of retirement, I have to wait till I get the letter in snail mail for my online ID?... it would be nice if the ARPO or PBA would inform members of all the needed paperwork to keep track of and not have to trust or rely on the county that it is being done correctly...on both ends...

Up until last year we all, or at least most of us, got the pink letters. We had to sign them and send them back. As with everything else they do, the County screwed a few of them up. Last year the County allowed us to respond via email. Apparently they decided to go the email route for any one who responded that way last year and not send them the pink letter. For me, everything would have been fine if Google hadn't decided the County's letter were SPAM and refused to send them. Google put it in the SPAM folder on their server but my email reader doesn't download SPAM. I had to sign on to my Gmail account and check the SPAM folder manually. That's the price of using a Gmail address. Luvinretrmnt, your pink form should be in the mail. If you don't get it by Tuesday give them a call. Any time I've had to deal with a real person in that office they went out of their way to be helpful.

I was still getting paychecks and direct deposit from them ( woulda been nice to keep the extra $$$) I had to call and straighten that mess out..and they took back real quick there money..lol.. that also screwed with the health benefits...

I got the letter today. If you have no changes, all you have to do is call the phone number on the letter and punch in the last 4 digits of your SS number and the 'On Line ID number' on the letter and you're done. Easier than turning on the computer.

I called , went smooth no problem, but I have a different carrier than empire and need to pay the county, will they send a bill ? as the pink letter says do not send payment now...I tried calling but the phone message system is full and just disconnects you.....that would be a great system for the pct to get ride of callers..no so much as trying to get info from the controllers office...
