NewsdayLetter: Why Not ID Suspects By Skin Color?Ray Lazier Lengend, accused of involvement with hurling crude Molotov cvcktails at an Islamic cultural center and four other New York-area sites on New Year's Day, is led out of the 103rd precinct in Jamaica, Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2011, in Queens borough of New York. Lengend was taken into custody Tuesday after he was tracked through a car with Virginia license plates that was believed to be at the scene of at least two of the attacks. I am at a loss as to why Newsday adheres to a policy that omits pertinent identifying information about crime suspects -- namely, skin color ["Queens firebombings: Elmont case linked?" News, Jan. 3]. 1/6/12 - You do a serious disservice to your readers when you fail to provide complete descriptive details that would make it easier for them to identify a potentially violent criminal and avoid becoming a victim themselves. You also do a serious disservice to law enforcement officials, since your overly broad descriptions must certainly result in an inundation of calls and tips about people who clearly do not fit the suspect's profile. The only people you're protecting by withholding this basic and obvious identifying information are the criminals. Whose side are you on? Donna Gibson, Oceanside Wow! They even a picture of the Perp.

Obviously a mistake there. Maybe the Roach Coach (pot delivery van) showed up early and the liberal editor was stoned when he/she let that letter slip by.
I see a big wrist slap on the horizon in Melville.

I 'd love to see their reply but something tells me I'm going to be waiting a long, long time.

As the topic says, I can't believe they even printed the letter. I'll give them Kudos for that. Now lets see if they respond to it.
