The results of Cops getting zero support from politicians and a hammering in the media has taken effect.

So I guess the application fee is not really used to help pick and process the best candidates for the job, it is to fill budget gaps when the politicians overspend !!!!!!!! According to the article there will be a budget gap now because not enough people signed up to take the test.... What a joke...

I think it is more about the pay. Especially for some of the people with a lot of time on or civilians that are doing well right now. You also would sometimes see teachers coming over too. Used to be you could come out here and after a relatively short time get back to where you were. Now if you are a boss or even just at top pay you have a long wait to get back to it. SC PBA truly sold out their unborn. Imagine sitting next to someone both of you at top pay and you are now tier six paying into your pension for life, paying into your health AND making over 25,000 less. There is going to be some real friction there if the top pay is not equalized.

The current contract ends in 2018. There's going to be a huge amount of retirements at that point ( like what NCPD is about to go thru ).

I am thinking that NCPD will have a lot go third quarter this year. It is the end of the summer and the OT that comes along with it, and then the Sandy OT runs out in November. It is also right after the next raise. A lot of factors coming into sync at that time.

The new contract (with it's 11yrs to top pay) IS THEE determining factor with regards to this, THAT & the fact that they NO Longer count prior time towards longevity make it a pretty tough pill to swallow. :/
That's NOT a typo ... 11 YEARS NOT STEPS... UTTERLY RIDICULOUS.

Also, all of their advertisements for hiring seem to be saying white males need not apply.

I wonder how long it will be before they have to send an English speaking interpreter on calls outside of Brentwood.

Yeah...that whole 11 years to top pay is a hard pill to swallow...plus paying into medical/pension. Every department is heading in that direction. Who else outside of thr city is 5yrs to top pay??

Very true.......but it hurts the job, and the future of the job. Selling out the unborn has been done for decades by both Nassau & Suffolk, but never to that extreme. As for my jab at Noel.....wait and see.
