Parts of the system already exist up in Harlem. If you walk 2nd Ave near 116 St. there are hatches in the sidewalk marked "Subway Entrance". The ventilation corridors stretch east and west on 116 St. from 2nd Ave. Walked it many times above ground as my foot post in 84, 85 but I've never been underneath to see. People have told me the stations were built but that doesn't mean they had track and signals in place.
