To limit casual viewing by the general public, the NIFA Discussion Board is now limited to registered members only. Login will be required for anyone who wishes to view threads. This does not mean that members can be careless about what they write when posting. The department and the press may already have registered memberships on this site.

There is not a whole lot that can be done in that respect other than checking IP addresses against anti-spam databases and denying attempts to register from locations in China, Vietnam and Russia etc. There have been efforts on other Police sites to verify law enforcement credentials of prospective members but privacy concerns deter many from joining.
