Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get finalized and how it works? I left the beginning of 2020 and still haven’t heard if or when I will be finalized. Do they notify you by mail? Is it on the website? Thanks

I retired June of 2018 and was finalized March of 2020, took a long time, they sent a nice check for retro however

Received notice in the mail, when I would call them they have no answer as to when I would be finalized, hope that helps

Thanks for the responses. Weird that broken retired after tornado and was finalized first. Any opinion why that happened? Thx

When I see the term 'finalized', I assume this is about NYPD pensions?

When you retire NYS doesn’t pay you your full Pension until P&A sends them all of your OT earnings and pensionable time, so after 21 months or so my pension went up and NYS cuts you a check for the amount you should have received since the first day you retired, mine went up about 3 grand a year after finalization

When I retired in 2001, I don't think it took more than a few months before I received the full check amount. I guess things have changed.

Mine took less than two months and I got the full amount right away but I retired at the end of the last Century. Things were different then. Suozzi only had a few months in office and hadn't had enough time to totally screw things up.  |

I have been retired since 2017 and still not finalized for Nypd pension what is going on I get no answers from pension section

2017...Yikes!!!!
I never could understand why NYPD finalizations took so much time but that is ridiculous. NCPD takes a few months.
