Keep the 9 hour rule and take back the 4 extra days. If u r doing the job right way nowadays u never do the 9 hour rule anyways. Only with this department do u have to work for your raises

NYPD got a 30k raise over the course of contract and working no extra days. We got about the same and are working 4 extra days per year plus gave up 16 hours of sick time per year which could be vacation or personal time if u do that stuff and paying into medical which is new for us and not them. Did I vote yes? Of course I did what else could u do u have to take the extra money but we are working for it. Contract raises used to just be given to u

NYPD didn't get away unscathed. I don't know how much they lost with their new contract but this was being discussed a month ago...

On March 9, the Municipal Labor Committee (MLC) voted to accept Aetna's Medicare Advantage PPO plan. The majority of City unions voted no, abstained, or did not even show up for the vote, but since voting in the MLC is weighted in favor of the two biggest unions, DC37 (Henry Garrido) and the UFT (Michael Mulgrew), the Yes vote carried. The Aetna contract (about 200 pages) has been posted on the City's OLR website. It will be finalized by April 1.

What does this mean for us?
The City will now offer only two health plans to retirees: the existing VIP/HIP HMO plan for New York City residents; and the new Aetna Medicare Advantage plan.

If you do not want to be enrolled in the Aetna MA plan, you must opt out between May 1 and June 30, 2023. After that date, you will be enrolled in Aetna MA automatically.

The plan will go into effect on September 1, 2023, for most people. For some groups it may not go into effect until January 1, 2024.
Anyone who is not enrolled in the Aetna plan will no longer be considered a "covered employee" by the City and will no longer be eligible for IRMAA/part B reimbursement, premium-free medigap insurance (aka Senior Care),

If you choose to stay on Medicare, you will be responsible for purchasing your own medigap and you will not be reimbursed for the Medicare monthly premium that is currently deducted from your Social Security. This will cost as much as $6,000 per person, double that for a retiree and dependent spouse or child.

How do we fight back?
