Shared sacrafice my ass. Mangano and Schmitt agree its a money loser yet they decided Friday to leave it open. I guess because its Peter shvtts district and is filled with patronage jobs. Makes sense to lay off some cops that put their lives on the line every day so some friend of the party can hide in a building that gets no visitors and loses money.
Massapequa Patch: Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano announced last month that the Tackapausha Museum in Seaford near the Massapequa border might be closed as a way to close the budget gap since it does not generate enough revenue. What is your position on whether the museum should remain open or not?
Schmitt: I do not want to see any county services eliminated or diminished. However, this county is facing an unprecedented fiscal crisis. I am aware of the proposal to temporarily close museums that do not generate revenue for the county, including the Tackapausha museum. This is unfortunate, but it is one of the sacrifices that we must make to fix the county’s finances. If closed, the museum would still be available for groups to visit; simply make arrangements in advance. Please note that the proposal would not close the Tackapausha Preserve. Once the county finances are strengthened, the museum can be opened again on a daily basis.
