Its been over 35 years since I last had to go to County Seat Drive and count ballets. Does D.D. still assign Detectives to man the adding machines in the stuffy basement? At least a visit, after the count, to the Garden City Hotel was OK for a couple of drinks on the arm, from whoever won.

I went to the Squad in '88. I never did it and I never heard of any of the other guys doing it. You must be talking about the days before paid OT. You know, when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

I think '76 was the last year I had to do the count. I do remember paid OT cause I left about 90 or so hours on the books because I could not get the time off before the cut off date. I forgot when that was. I retired 1/78. I just might be in the dinosaur class, Mr. Wiz.

i hope the absentee ballots put him out, we'll have to wait and see. very disappointed that the two races were this close anyway. i'd bet money that a lot of voting-eligible county employees didn't bother to go to the polls.
