Two Men Shot By Task Force Cops in Inwood After Gun Pointed at Police
11/22/11 - Officers from a drug task force shot two men when a gun was pointed at police during an upper Manhattan car stop Tuesday, officials said. The officers, part of the Drug Enforcement Task Force, pulled the car over on Cooper St. near W. 204th St. in Inwood shortly after 10 p.m., officials said. At least one of the four men inside the car pulled out a gun and pointed it at the officers, sources said, prompting them to open fire at the suspects. Two men were hit in the gunfire, one in his right shoulder and the other in his groin, sources said. They were taken to Harlem Hospital and were expected to survive. The other two men were taken into custody at the scene. Four weapons were recovered and charges were pending for all four suspects. The task force — composed of officers from the Drug Enforcement Agency, the NYPD and the New York State Police — pulled the car over as part of a REDRUM operation, which targets suspects who rob other criminals, a source said. It was not immediately clear which agency fired the shots that wounded the suspects. None of the officers were injured.
Good job by the task force making the streets safe.

As a taxpayer, this offends me. With the limited resources we have today, how about we use them to protect the law abiding citizens? Who gives a shyt if these humps are robbing and killing each other? At least they're thinning the herd.

I agree Wiz. But it's all about numbers. Lowering the Homicide numbers to be exact, hence REDRUM. They don't care if it's perps getting terminated. They want lower numbers. That's all they care about....Statistics.

It better be about lowering the homicides and robbery numbers, but it's also about policing NYC, and its police department being proactive not reactive.
You guys can't look at it that way. This task force hit them with a large group of cops, the perps couldn't react. Now if a RMP pulls them over for something, they have a pretty good chance of being blasted by the 4 perps in the car the odds are in the perps favor.
Getting guns off the streets before some cop gets killed should be a main concern.

You're right Coots. It's just the way they put it......"pulled the car over as part of a REDRUM operation, which targets suspects who rob other criminals, a source said". If they would have said 'we need to get the homicide numbers down so we are focusing on perp on perp crime', I wouldn't have cared. They even gave hints of the purpose with their REDRUM/MURDER code name.
The Cops did a good job. It's the smoke and mirrors that the politicians pull that annoys many people.
