Hello all, first time posting here. Here's my background. I am currently a Special Agent with the Federal Government. I have been with the Feds for 7 years and I have grown to be frustrated with it. I am making about 120k right now with a take home car. The pension system on the Federal side isn't that good though and I am sick of the politics with the Feds and working under the Obama Administration, so I took the Nassau PD exam for a change of pace. Do you guys think I should pursue Nassau PD or stay where I am? Thanks Absolutely. I used to be chief of Thoracic Medicine at one of the finest hospitals in US. I made millions of dollars. But I had a dream to be a Nassau cop and made the plunge. I love it! Do it.

At his age I was getting ready , in a year, to retire. Wow take a 85k cut in pay, give up a take home car, and he wants advice? For real?

120k and a take home car....i would stay put. Especially if you make 120k just to show up without any Overtime.
On a serious note I was asking since I am at first year pay with the mta police. I have the physical June 9th.

Funny, I can see I'm not going to get a serious answer to a serious question. I don't know much about your job, that's why I am here asking questions. No one mentioned anything to me about this pay freeze when I took the test, I was told 107k was the top salary. I wish I could get serious feedback.

107k is the top pay for the guys that were able to get there before the nifa freeze. There are currently many cops who have 6+ years invested here and have no idea when they will hit that top pay number more or less take the job now at the entrance rate. Do some research fed detective

I am doing research, why do you think I am inquiring? Some of you guys are acting like real pricks, calling me psychotic just for asking a legitimate question. Thanks for nothing, I'm outta here!

There are a lot of angry individuals here FEDDET. Nassau county workers have had their salaries frozen for two years plus now. Many county workers have been laid off or forced to take buy outs, so that their pensions would not take a hit. Stay in your federal job. This freeze MAY be lifted soon based on winning a lawsuit that the PBA filed. However, the county and NIFA, will be at the state as soon as they can to implement another freeze on us. No guarantees here.

Thank you for acting like a human being. I didn't disrespect anyone here, but I got nothing but disrespect for absolutely no reason. I hope these few clowns are not representative of your Dept., because if I am gonna be working with people like this, then you can keep it. Thanks for your informative professional response.

No Problem. It is your decision to make. Good luck with it. However, if it was me, I'd stay and transfer to a better place.
