That is just my opinion. Obviously everyone has a friend who is pumping them with PBA info, and everyone is running to the forums to post what they heard and what they were told. I am just observing what I am seeing here and out on the streets with our peers. The stress of the past 3 years is enough. But now we are stressing more and more over the BS we read on here. This gets us all worked up and stressed out. Maybe I am full of shvt. I agree totally that Jimmy and the boys need to step up and let all this political BS between the union, the county and NIFA be put aside and work out this deal NOW!! Why does another union have to go to a public meeting and question NIFA about the county wage freeze. How come our union is not there EVERY NIFA public meeting asking the same question over and over and over!! And looser you are right we have been kept in the dark way too long. It doesn't take long for our union to send out a weekly e-mail to let us know what is going on. A simple "we are meeting with the county again this week" or "NIFA has asked us to meet with them over the weekend" Just this simple task would at least show more than they do now. So you want Carver to negotiate on one hand. But you want to storm NIFA's meetings on the other hand. Which is it? Play nice and negotiate or end all ties and go for broke? Which do you think is the better strategy? How willing to negotiate do you think NIFA would be after that?

I never said storm the meetings. Someone from the PBA board should be at every NIFA meetings and "ask" what NIFA was doing to lift the freeze. Just make it a common occurrence at every NIFA meeting. The lawsuit would be an ideal end all. But everyone knows that the decision will be appealed and dragged on in the courts. I believe what I want is an end to this.

Which do you think is the better strategy? How willing to negotiate do you think NIFA would be after that? NYbuild1 do you think Nifa is negotiating in good faith? Do you believe Nifa and the county have not gotten together and made a plan to drag this out? Do you think Nifa gives a shvt about you and your family? After all the negotiations Nifa comes out with that "proposal", do you think that's the best they could do? Do you realize that proposal was put forth to divide the job further and leave room for more extractions at future dates. Now I don't claim to know the answers to those questions but if we don't start questioning the current process then what? If guys don't start making suggestions after 3 YEARS then what? Sitting back and waiting has worked so well to this point for a select group of people, unfortunately it's not the guys stuck in steps! My suspicion is the PBA knows what it will take to get everyone where they should be, but will not agree to it because "they" believe it is too much. But what I believe means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. One word of warning though, guys are starting to get together and are talking about airing it all out at Nifa meetings, press meetings, legislative meetings etc etc, and once the cats out of the bag there won't be any going back. But then again after 3 years of watching nothing develop who can blame them.

Let the Lawsuit play out. No more talks, no more sit downs, having crumbs thrown are way. A big sum of cash was paid to have Greenberg represent us. I would rather have it this way because OUR PBA, is now impotent. Many guys are willing to take whatever they can get. Hey, this is a team, lets play like one. We are all in it together, but if you concede now...just wait until the next contract!!! Especially you newer boots. What do you think you will give up next time?

What is wrong with holding public informational meetings during the negotiating process? It doesn't need to be a "protest" to get all of the unions to come together with a campaign detailing the effects of the salary freeze on the members, detailing the waste in the county budget that has not been fixed, detailing the broken tax assessment system that Ed Mangano promised to fix during his first campaign and remains broken to this day. The only information the public knows and believes are the cover stories of Newsday detailing the salaries of the top 100 cops salaries. They think we are rich union crybabies. The unions should be changing that opinion with a public information campaign. What is wrong with pointing out the NIFA rules, the NIFA code of ethics and questioning how Ron Stack and George Marlin are board members. They should have been removed 3 years ago. Governor Cuomo allegedly put Mr Kaiman in place to help work out a deal, what is wrong with publicly asking how his wife landed 2 patronage jobs with the Town of Hempstead? Why must we be the only ones suffering and waiting in silence as the years keep passing by and nothing changes? Why is everyone so afraid to fight?

I'd be willing to give that a try.

Very well said fakelottotix & I like that plan. It's a shame that us in steps will have to be the ones to carry out that plan by ourselves.
