I am dues exempt from the RPA and the PBA because of age and years of membership.I still pay dues to the DAI 'cause I can't afford the one time cost of exemption. The PBA has given me my last year of Life insurance cause at 80 the rate jumps astronomically, far above what I can afford. If Detectives are leaving the PBA, they are nuts, the life insurance is well worth it before age 80. I think those might be the ones stuck in steps and struggling to make ends meet. You get the gold shield, first step, more base, but overtime drops by 500 hours. Decisions have to be made.

what are you talking about? ?.. PBA and DETECTIVES dont go hand in hand buddy You would think that a REAL cop would know that any rank can still be associate members. Hmmm? Again PDCN63, you know a lot about nothing.

Didn't think the new det got a step. Thought it was just a $2500 stipend while in steps and then after they reach cop top pay they start det steps. Where does the 500 hours less to come in? Short roll or something else in their contract?

I can just see you in section 8 housing while you troll cop sites. Change your screen name at least. You've been made.

I did not know that PBA dues were $700.00 per year.My Bad….. I'm away too long from the county. It's about that much. I think a lot of Detectives are starting to question what they are getting out of paying associate dues. It seems like most of the benefits are only available to full members. Not trying to troll the boards here either. I just wondered if it is true that Detectives are starting to leave as associate members of the PBA.

Johnhardy, you're exactly correct. What are you getting for $700 per year, a few cards? In fact a message was sent out attempting to stem the wave of associates dropping their membership, it obviously raised a flag at the offices. It is true and can you blame those members? Maybe when times are better I will re-enroll as an associate, until then, I'm not paying into the pba so the exec board can continue to enjoy their perks. I've been frozen for three years, i will pay into the collective bargaining unit that represents me, not somewhere else just to pay "tribute"

A few members of one of our busier squads have told the PBA that they are opting out of their associate membership.

I've been frozen for three years, i will pay into the collective bargaining unit that represents me, not somewhere else just to pay "tribute" It is not that easy to re-enroll. I dropped out several years ago as I saw no benefit in staying in. A while ago I decided I wished to become a partial member, only because the PBA is generally the lead on negotiations, their dues are substantially less. I was told if I wanted to enroll as a partial member I would have to make up the dues for the years I was not a member. The PBA wanted me to pay them money for the privilege of giving them dues. Sorry but that was galling.
