Hey Opie, reelrampage35 might be a 1%er and have morals, but the fact is his wife makes $100,000 a year as a teacher so that money means nothing to him. Too the 1%ers who have a family with a stay at home mom it means everything to us. Cut the crap with the moral and values talk bro. Don't feed me that bullshvt. I have morals and values also. Family values where I want to do what's best for my family. Couldn't agree more. Being a 1%er and being in the early stages of family life I have no room for "taking a stand" when it comes to providing for my family. I bought my house when me & the wife both worked. Then as we are getting frozen another mouth to feed comes along. With the exorbitant cost of day care it wasnt worth having the wife return to work. Then another young one comes along. So 4 mouths on one frozen salary. I make over 500 hours of OT a year (which is still less than a top pay guy makes to walk in the door)just to make ends meet. I don't have a big fancy house or nice cars. I'm just trying to get by. For those top pay clowns that I hear say "well you shouldn't spend so much to have to rely on OT to pay your bills" well life can change a whole lot in 3 years. Especially if you want a family. Their are only so many years until a wife is too old to have healthy kids. I shouldn't have to rearrange my family planning because some political a$$holes want to play games with our lives. So for those of you that want to talk about your high moral constitution, well your imagined morals are t going to put food in my children's mouths

I'm glad other guys agree with me here. Now that's this has passed membership, and hopefully the Legislature very soon, NIFA better accept this deal. Just a few thoughts on why NIFA must pass this, We need to hire and hire like 2005,2006,2007, 2008. We need a lot of cops. The only way you will get real good candidates is if you unfreeze the guys coming in. The last test was a few years ago so most of the guys getting investigated are 28-40 years old. They have a class ready to go but guys are unsure if they will take the job frozen. One other thing us 1%ers need to accomplish if this is not approved by NIFA: We need to get 400 - 500 of us strong and make our own lawsuit with our own attorney.

I couldn't agree with opie more. This economy and this world is so f'd up. This deal guarantees us a lot of money and, to me, the givebacks aren't that bad when you consider how much money we are guaranteed. I'm a 1%er with 3 kids and a stay at home mom. In no way am I struggling right now but I definitely couldn't keep this up for 2 more years. I need to start making money now. I agree, if NIFA doesn't approve we are screwed. But I really think that they will approve it.

Yeah aruba vacation your right I DO have a wife that works you chose the other option I also sold a classic car and a boat in the last year so I could continue to live the way I do. Which is in a small one level ranch. I dont live any extravagant life style and have cut back on everything. I went on vacation last year for the first time in 5 years with my family and am waiting another year to go again. Would love to know your lifestyle. Feel free to send me a PM instead of hiding behind your screen since you know so much about me.

Lets not argue over this. If the deal goes through, it will help all of us. A life changer for some of us. Is anyone hearing rumors either way if NIFA will approve this or not?

Are you prepared to sell anything else to maintain your lifestyle while this lawsuit pans out? Are you prepared to wait and continue to lose money the next 2 years? What if we don't win the lawsuit then what? Do you believe when Nifa relinquishes power that you will go to the pay scale you should be at? I understand you are a principled individual in your wanting to get what was taken from us, but the PBA and unions in general are not the powerhouses they once were. We no longer snap our fingers and get what we want. And furthermore it cost well over a million dollars in lawyers fees to fight a lawsuit in federal court that should have never been there in the first place. Almost 1/3 of what the PBA had in reserves. Nifa has unlimited funds to continue the fight. If you think the PBA is ineffective now wait till there is no money in the reserves to fight the simplest of battles. Personally I'd love to make the county eat crow, but I don't want to take the chance of having it backfire in our faces.

listen, i'll be the first one to say that nassau county is an expensive place to live and i'm sure though most of you close to or at top pay live relatively modest lives you have to look at the big picture. compared to almost every law enforcement agency in the county even under a new contract your job is ACES. your chart is awesome, top pay is great, and the quality of life and of cops on this job doesnt get much better. take a look at some other guys in law enforcement agencies and other civil service jobs and realize how good you really have it. I understand a lot of you took the job wanting to have it as advertised and i understand that but you need to give something to get something. the givebacks here are pretty paltry compared to the good that getting unfrozen will do for everybody. the county is in shambles money wise and this is a way to get out of this. lets not get greedy and take a look at the overall picture and not let our pride wear on the fact that its not exactly what its supposed to be because most jobs arent!

Just be aware that after this deal passes... I wonder how long it takes for either County Exec in office threatens layoffs or more give backs. At this point guys im sorry to say but if they threaten lay offs or open up the contract YET AGAIN, then lay off!! I hope the PBA makes new hires aware of this. We need to stand our ground this time IF they threaten layoffs. I understand we cross that bridge when it happens but I'm saying right now go ahead and layoff. Sorry but i dont wanna give back shvt anymore under this current contract. We gave enough period. Hopefully if this deal happens there will be no more surprises for the duration.

Should this contract pass, it would need nifas signature. No more harassment until 2017. As far as layoffs are concerned... No worries...we're so short you'd have to be a moron to try and use that as a scare tactic.

Hey aruba vacation you seem to have your facts wrong as I dont work in the 7th Precinct. I also read all your other posts to see what you are all about. Many of them include alot of whining about how the 1 % should start there own lawsuit and "please Jimmy help us", grow a set of balls and stand up for yourself. He would sell your soul for a dollar and you dont care about anybody else or this job. And if I am correct your wife did work and told YOU she wasnt going back to work so she could stay home and raise the kids. Again grow a set of balls
