So lets see......we hire an independent company to "certify" our prediction of future savings. So how much are we spending to hire them? More importantly... HOW MUCH TIME will it take for this company to "review" the contract and "calculate" the savings to certify it going forward?? 1 month? 2 months? THEN NIFA will have to "REVIEW" the report. So by then Dickbag Marlin will probably be ready to leave. Then another member will be appointed to NIFA......THEN we may get into serious discussions.....THEN we'll need to vote AGAIN......I say maybe April or May......but I'll go out on a limb and say SOMETIME IN 2014 we'll know something!!!! My total monies lost to date.......approx $80,000

no worries Backdoorit... it says they are a municipal finance EXPERT, so they must be good...we'll give them a $20k raise in a few months when still nothing is settled. I also like how the email says "THE" deal instead of "A"deal as if its already done and written. For those of you holding your ballots waiting for the answer, its time to check the boxes for a change and mail them in already....Personally mine wasnt in my house for more than the time it took to open the envelope and check the boxes, I sealed the return envelope on the walk back to the mailbox....

What makes no sense to me is that since NIFA has been here and ALL County workers have been frozen and the county has saved hundreds of millions of dollars that they haven't paid us, the County is STILL in a deficit every year for the next several years? Then we have Maragos right before the election say he FOUND a 20 million dollar surplus. When are these judges and the public going to see thru this BULLshvt.

Because NIFA is a joke and was only created to destroy UNION jobs! If they wanted financial stability they would stop ALL unnecessary spending. If the goal is to have a SURPLUS then why is spending on new turf fields and new projects being approved? Why is the county allowed to buy buildings all over Nassau and properties for open space? They simply take any UNION savings and spend the money elsewhere or hire PATRONAGE basically negating any savings.

If you think the public cares about our raises, you're out of your mind. Many in the public sector will have to cope with Obamacare in a few months not to mention those without jobs having to provide for their families. Do you really think they give a fat rat's ass whether or not we get a raise? Gawd! Be serious.. It ain't gonna happen.

If the membership re-elects the same board. The guys that vote for them deserve everything they get or should I say don't get and have no right to complain about anything. Mangano has played Carver and the membership like puppets over the last two years with all the deals we have, don't have and especially with this last deal that according to Carver fit into outline NIFA gave him and had legislative support. Legislature never even voted on it and NIFA shot it down before they read it. Where was the support Carver? Mangano, the legislature and NIFA now after the last vote see how desperate the membership is to get salaries and especially step unfrozen they now know they can come back and demand a lot more for that to happen. Time for all of us stuck in steps to look into filing our own separate lawsuit Let's face it, the days of the unions and good contracts is fast coming to a close. These politicians have seen it is possible to win elections without union support in some cases. The more it happens, the less you'll see their support. Remember, they work for the public. That's who puts them in office, not the unions.

I agree and unions have been demonized in the press and are seen as the reason for ALL the problems in the country right now. Yeah, WE know it's not true, but they don't care about us at all. Can't afford your house, too bad, they'll tell ya to sell it. We should be lucky to have a job they'll tell us. The public doesn't like us one bit. Oh and we're cops, so they hate us even more. We're the ones who write tickets and sit in the firehouse all day eating donuts. If this was happening to the FD, they'd be up in arms because they rescue kittens out of trees and we take away their freedom. We're seen as the enemy in most cases.

The problem is the economy is being hollowed out and and the country has lost a lot of high wage jobs. Why would someone support us if they're making 65,000 and can't pay their own bills? This is a contract issue, period. We're on our own.

Maybe the union should put some time looking into these politicians lives and their business dealings. Our job has plenty of resources and we should start playing their game.

I agree with the above statement & maybe they should start & focus with those members in NIFA...I think everyone on here is in agreement that a deal will not happen. How much longer does the PBA wait until they start going on the offensive? How much longer till they rectify what has happened to guys in steps? I don't think guys understand the hardship that members stuck in steps are having. I know one guy who had to sell his house & another who is about to go into foreclosure. I know some who have long term illness & are out of sick days. I know one who was hurt in line of duty but being forced out on 50% disability. All these guys are stuck in steps. I am still waiting for someone on the board to fight for us & step up & do what is right.

Looking into the politicians lives? ? They would never do that because the PBA has a lot of skeletons in there closets too. If anyone was to look at what they do there would be indictments on everyone on the PBA board... Read the Buffalo Freeze and see what happened to that PBA board!!!!!
