Is it true that the class is not out on field training because they have no vests and uniforms....because the county hasn't paid the vendors and they are refusing the new order until they get paid for the previous order??? Anyone??

They have not paid the uniform bender because they pulled the bait and switch on us. The uniforms we tried were not the uniforms we got.

The county has been screwing vendors since the Gulotta days. Back in the day we had a contract with Park Uniform. Call them now and tell them you would like to price uniforms for Nassau, they will hang up on you. Vendors are just happy to get their cost in return after dealing with the county. Contracts with employees and vendors mean nothing here.

Years ago there were shirts and pants in the attic in the old part of Headquarters, before the "E" building was built. I remember getting a rain coat and a pea coat from the attic back in'58. Every body went to a gun store in Westbury to get your gun and leather goods. I think it was named "Ed Kohlers" if my memory is still intact, I Bought a gun there for $40.00 back then…..brand new!!!
Just remembering……..

Sort of like the gas situation the other day..... 1st pct, 4th pct, headquarters and highway were all out of fuel..... cant wait till the MDT message comes out for stationary patrol with cars off to save gas....... or better yet all cars from one town have to 91 with the Sgt who has a County credit card to go to the gas station and fuel up, then all the other cars from another town do the same. Dont laugh it has happened before..

Before the gas pumps at Station houses. we went to designated gas stations with in the Pct,and filled up and sign for the gas, that they, put in. Some times it was a bitch when the 4x12 guy did not gas up and the 12x8 guy got stuck, to sit, heater off in the winter because the guy you relieved was a hump!!!!! Trouble was, because of the squad chart rotation, I was never in the position to return the favor. We had no 24 hour gas stations back then…..

No vests for police officers?
Where is the pba? This is why we need new blood. A strong union would have a press conference about officer safety being threatened to save a few bucks or the failure to pay a bill!

The only solution?
Stop caring.
Do your job. Never let the good people hang.....just, stop caring.
It IS what is IS.

I believe the uniform part not the vests because don't we have to wear our vests at the range now? They never would have made it past that. That being said, I have still yet to recieve my new vest that I had fitted 5 months ago.

They could always cut an order for all cars to park on hills on their posts and then roll down to the bottom, engine off, to simulate patrol.

Before the gas pumps at Station houses. we went to designated gas stations with in the Pct,and filled up and sign for the gas, that they, put in. Someone posted that the new First will have no room for a garage. Wonder if that includes gas pump too. Getting gas at a station would probably be a good idea now. Save on trips to the SH.
