After meeting with Mangano on Thursday, Kaiman acknowledged a loophole: "It is my understanding that a change in job/title is outside the scope of the wage freeze order," he said. Kaiman said Friday that a "title change is not something we can address. We can't go and audit every title in the county. It's just not our job. The county has titles available. If they put somebody in other titles, that's within their authority." He added, "It's my sense that they're going to abide by the spirit of the wage freeze order as NIFA has presented it and we appreciate their doing it." James Carver, president of the Police Benevolent Association, suggested that Mangano "use that same logic for the employees of the county and bump us up a title to get us our rightful wages and steps back. If he is able to do this to give them a raise, they should create new titles that will bump us all up." So this is how uncle Ed screws the county workforce - VIA a Loophole Happy Easter!

In order for Eddie to promote or switch titles for a pay bump, there are only two possibilities. 1.The title existed and was vacant. 2. They created it for the raise. Either way his pompous conduct appears outside of the meaning of the freeze when he clearly stands on the platform of downsizing and eliminating wasteful spending.

Can union members send letters, and I stress written in a professional and thoughtful manner, to the CE expressing their displeasure with this recent development?

Can union members send letters, and I stress written in a professional and thoughtful manner, to the CE expressing their displeasure with this recent development? I think letters would be sent to some investigating body about retaliating against union members by an employer. Basicly he is saying he will find a way to give any non union employee a raise that he wants. If NIFA can't do anything to stop it one would think the justice department could. I am sure this policy from the CE has a disaprotionate impact on minority employees. Anti union and anti minority issues are two things that justice department would love to look into. Especially against a republican. Waiting to here why the union won't go this route.

There was never a deal. Just what NIFA wanted to give, the membership is starving for any information. So when we hear of a possible deal/proposal it's like feeding time at the zoo. We can't help it. Rumors fly around the county within minutes. At it's the PBA's fault. Little snippets of information isn't good enough. All we do is fill in the blanks and try to decipher the PBA's half truths. It's fvcking sickening. The incompetence is at an all time high. It's very interesting how Carver blames O'Reilly and Cortes for all this shvt when his email on the 9th started this insanity. But there's nobody to blame but the membership, we voted him back in just 2 months ago.

Lawsuit is real. With all the arguments we have in our suit, if we loose that only means this isn't America anymore. The deal is a pacifier. That is what I'm done with. I'm at a point where I have accepted that this is it. I'm salaried at 79,000. I'm done with deals. I'm pretty much gonna vote no on any deal and ride this out till we win in 3 years. We are going to win. Fvck this county. I'm not giving them anything. Done being victimized. Jimmy should walk out of talks. He should tell them good luck hiring non contributory members who don't pay into healthcare. And when the contract expires we should drag out talks till 2019 the way they dragged out talks with us. Let them hire for years past the expiration date with no changes for new guys. They would crack and beg us to come back to table. fvck them. We are gonna win suit and we should give nothing to our enemies that have been pillaging our unions and this once great department for years. From what I'm guessing 500 cops are slated to retire in next few years. Burn baby burn. They will come to us begging to change hiring conditions for new members. Don't get me wrong I need the raises. My credit will be destroyed. However I won't loose my home or cars and I'll be able to feed my family and that's all that matters. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know. Just my feelings at this time.

I would love to believe we will win the lawsuit, however what if we do not? What if the court rules that while Nifa did not have the proper authority for a wage freeze (per say) but it is in the best interest of the court to rule in favor of the counties financial well being as opposed to the benefit of a few county workers. It is a distinct possibility. I would love the to see the county not to be able to hire, but my guy feeling is guys will still take this job. Granted you won't get anymore city guys or anyone established in another career, I do think people will take the job. Unfortunately it's going to be just like the city, scraping the bottom of the barrel. And when all the fine candidates are stuck at 34k for 3-4 years the scandals will start. And I will sit back and laugh at this county. Let's hope for the best, however with what we've seen the past 3 years its a stretch to say the least. Be there this Thursday!

Lets look at the worst case scenario If we don't make a deal now...We lose the first round in State Court, Now we have to appeal which could take 1 year. At this point the county will expect even more givebacks. Lets Say we lose the Appeal as well which could very well happen being in state court and all. Now the county will want even more givebacks again that is if they even want to deal anymore. They could say screw it, lets keep the freeze going for another five years because its been deemed legal. Then what do we do? Yes we still have the Federal Claims, but who knows if by then Judge Wexler will still be in the right mind set to rule on anything anymore, He is in his 90's. By then we might have to wait for a new judge to review everything, so add another year probably for that decision. If we win that one, the county appeals, Add another 6 months to a year. We are easily looking at being frozen for 3 more years without a deal. I feel now is the time to deal before the county will want more. Thats a gamble I am not willing to take. I couldn't handle the stress of paying my bills for another 3 years. And the county will eventually hire if no deal cannot be made.
