There was mention of 14/15 step not getting done because nifa wanted us to "take a leap of faith" and do a deal that only brought us to a certain point and if certain revenues were brought in by the county they would reinstate the other steps. Jimmy said no and in his words said it was more like a "plunge of death". He said that talks are continuing, he has made a counter proposals (no specifics). He also reiterated that no deal will be done that does not get everybody through their steps.
On another note, a couple of the 2013 guys showed up. They asked if a deal would include them because they have to make decisions soon if they should stick it out or go back to where they came. It was embarrassing that a handful of guys in the room shouted at them to go back.

I think they genuinely believe that the new guys would be doing themselves a disservice by staying on. That's how I took it.

Watch as the class that was just hired shrinks after this meeting. The smart ones SHOULD go back if they have a family to feed.

I just can't believe that we have basically gotten nowhere in 3 years with this freeze. I really never thought it was going to last this long, and the fact that there is no end in sight is even scarier. I think about how I would've advanced in my previous career by now and there's nothing I can do because I'm stuck here. I'm in for the long haul. I signed up for a certain pay scale and it hasn't happened that way. I'm losing a shvt load of money every day that this goes on and it just needs to end so I can take care of my kids better. Either these damn judges better rule in our favor sooner than later or we negotiate with the county and NIFA to get us where we should be (not just one step). But after 3 years this needs to happen soon enough is enough.

Also just heard from a delegate that any deal would include the class that just graduated. They just might make the step scale different and longer to top pay. Anyone else hear this? Although they knew what they were walking into I'm not about to sell them out either.

So i got word that Jimmy is 100% opposed to picketting at homes of these asshcles?? This is exactly why nothing is getting done!!! Jimmy is SOFT. Does that cross the line? Well so does being frozen for 3 years with no end in sight!!! If you continue to play nice then these people will see that as weak........ Which in fact this union IS, thx jimmy!!

Speaking from experience over 35 years from participating in slowdowns, super enforcement, and now doing proposed pickets (never did) it would be a disaster. The public could care less about job actions and their affects. Have you been reading the comments in Newsday after the negative articles. They, the public, think we are overpaid and think it's great raises are frozen. It would be be a public relations nightmare. We are now living in an anti union national sentiment. Best course of action in my meaningless opinion, let the PBA do it's work. I know it's painful beyond believe. But knee jerk stuff will make it worse.
